Emergency Notification Systems
Rel Comm has become a leader in the design and installation of campus-wide Emergency Notification Systems that allow senders to initiate mass notifications to alert people using live, pre-recorded, or scheduled broadcasts delivered to Emergency Notification Alert Towers, IP phones, mobile devices, overhead IP & analog speakers, loud horns, digital signs, SMS, and more. Geo-location alerts via the Mobile Client app ensure mobile recipients receive relevant information based on their current location.
School mass notification and campus critical event management systems have become a necessity for colleges and universities across the United States. Violent incidents are not just limited to higher education, with some of the deadliest incidents taking place at Sandy Hook Elementary School and Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (The Clery Act) is the federal law that requires disclosure of campus safety information by colleges and universities. After the mass shooting tragedy at Virginia Tech, the law was updated to require campuses to issue immediate campus emergency alerts about any situations that are a threat to the health or safety of students and employees.
In the current environment, safety administrators at all grade levels are obligated to have emergency response plans in place to address these campus safety issues. In fact, most states now require school districts to implement school safety plans and, under The Clery Act, higher education institutions are required to issue immediate campus emergency alerts about any situations that are a threat to the health or safety of students and employees.
Emergency Alert and Notification systems require multi-disciplinary software solutions and a fair amount of planning and design to be able to achieve seamless integration across multiple platforms. Our custom designed solutions create the ability to rapidly communicate time-sensitive information during an emergency. Common use cases include: one-touch building lockdowns, triggering silent alarms with integrated panic buttons, automatically receiving alerts from external early-warning systems from sources like NWS, IPAWS EAS, AMBER Alerts, and more! Using geo-alerts will simultaneously send separate alerts to provide timely, relevant information based on the recipients’ current location.
It is also possible to communicate routine, non-emergency information with employees, visitors, patients, students, or bystanders located near your facility. You can also share information in real-time, on-the-fly, or schedule notifications ahead of time using Revolution’s Scheduler tool.
